The walkthrough uses the original ChatGPT web plugin captures. After connecting, open Codex in the desktop app and start a new task with ApexGenius. A ChatGPT web connection does not verify Codex access.

A public ApexGenius plugin listing is not verified. Use a plugin shared with you or one you created, subject to your account and workspace policy.

Create a personal plugin

Where Developer mode is available, open ChatGPT Settings, then Security and login, and enable it. In Plugins, select the plus button, enter ApexGenius and a description, then add this URL under Connection. Create the connection, complete OAuth, and review the tools. Return to Codex in the desktop app and start a new task with the plugin enabled.

What Codex can do in Google Ads

5 operations. Read looks things up and changes nothing. Write changes Google Ads and runs only when that tool is enabled.

Read4 operations

Looks things up. Changes nothing.

Accounts

  • google_ads_list_customersList the Google Ads customer accounts enabled for you in ApexGenius.
  • google_ads_get_customerRead one account’s ID, name, currency, time zone and status.

Reports and queries

  • google_ads_campaign_reportRead each campaign’s status, impressions, clicks, cost and conversions over a date range.
  • google_ads_queryRun a GAQL query against an enabled account, such as search terms, ads or keywords.

Write1 operation

Changes Google Ads. Runs only when enabled.

Full API

  • google_ads_requestCall any Google Ads API endpoint for an enabled account, including changes to campaigns, ads and budgets.

You choose what Codex can use

When you approve Codex, pick Full access, Read only, or Custom. Read only allows the Read operations and nothing else. Custom picks apps and tools one by one.

Limits in Google Ads

  • · Only the customer accounts you enable can be reached, and the Google account’s own Ads permissions still apply.
  • · The full API tool can change campaigns, ads and budgets, which can spend money. Keep it off unless you need it.
  • · Enabled writes run immediately. Turn a tool off to block calls.
  • · Disconnecting stops future access. It does not undo a change already made in Google Ads.

Try asking

“List the Google Ads customer accounts enabled for me. Do not change campaigns or budgets.”

“Show spend, clicks and conversions by campaign for the last 30 days.”

“Which search terms spent money last week without a conversion?”

“Pause the campaign I name. Show me the exact change first.”

Questions people ask first

How do I connect Google Ads?

Open Google Ads in ApexGenius Connections, choose Connect, sign in with the Google account that has access to your ads, and enable the customer accounts you want. You do not paste a developer token.

Which ad accounts can my AI reach?

Only the customer accounts you enable in ApexGenius, within the Google account’s own Google Ads permissions.

Can my AI change campaigns or budgets?

Yes, through the full API tool, which is marked destructive because changes can spend money. Enabled writes run immediately. Turn a tool off to block calls.

Can I start with read-only access?

Yes. Choose Read only when you add your AI agent. It keeps the account, report and GAQL reads and never sees the full API tool.

Does it work with a manager account?

Yes. Enable the client accounts under your manager account that your AI should reach. Each call names the account it reads.
