How to connect Salesforce to ChatGPT

Find or add ApexGenius. Open ChatGPT Plugins and find ApexGenius. For a custom connection, enable Developer mode in Settings, then Security and login; select the plus button in Plugins and enter the ApexGenius MCP URL with OAuth.
Connect and authorize. Connect Salesforce in ApexGenius if needed. From the app’s connection prompt, sign in and approve the intended Salesforce connection and access. The app opens the authorization page for you.
Return and use Salesforce. Start a new ChatGPT chat or Work task, ask ApexGenius one read-only question, and check the result against a successful read in Activity.

Plugin availability and labels depend on your app and workspace. Installation alone does not verify Salesforce access.

ApexGenius Start with Salesforce selected, the Production and Sandbox choice, and the Connect Salesforce button. — Choose Salesforce. On Start, pick Salesforce, choose Production or Sandbox, then click Connect Salesforce.

3. Allow access

4. Choose ChatGPT

5. Add it in ChatGPT

6. Approve access

Which ChatGPT plans can use this?

Available plugins and tools depend on your ChatGPT account and workspace policy. Personal MCP creation requires Developer mode where permitted. Your ApexGenius scope and Salesforce permissions also determine which actions can run.

Is this the same as connecting Codex?

The journey is the same: find or add ApexGenius in Plugins, connect, authorize, then return and ask about Salesforce. Codex runs tasks in the ChatGPT desktop app; ChatGPT uses Chat or Work. The captured ChatGPT custom-plugin setup uses Developer mode. Labels, availability, and authorization depend on the app and workspace.

Do I need my own Salesforce connected app?

No. You sign in with Salesforce OAuth and ApexGenius holds the authorization for the connection, refreshing it as Salesforce requires.

Can I connect production and a sandbox at the same time?

Yes. Each org is its own Salesforce connection, and an AI agent can be scoped to one of them, both, or neither.

Can an agent delete records or deploy without me?

The operation must be enabled in the access you authorize. Choose Read only to exclude writes. Delete, anonymous Apex, and deploy carry risk labels; confirmation behavior depends on the tool and AI client, with no universal server-side human-approval guarantee.

Is my Salesforce data stored by ApexGenius?

The ordinary MCP path does not intentionally retain record results. Operational, connection, credential, usage, and audit data is retained so activity can be reviewed.

Which AI agents can use this connection?

Codex starts in Plugins in the ChatGPT desktop app. Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and ChatGPT Work each have their own setup guide. Authorize the saved Salesforce connection separately for each AI client; availability and controls vary.

How do I add ApexGenius to ChatGPT?

Start in Plugins with an ApexGenius plugin available to you. For a personal connection, enable Developer mode in Settings, Security and login where allowed. In Plugins, select the plus button, add a name, description and https://server.autom8.pro/mcp under Connection. Create it, complete OAuth, and select ApexGenius in a new chat. A public listing is not verified.

Can the ApexGenius ChatGPT app change Salesforce?

Eligible write tools can run only when the ChatGPT workspace policy, selected ApexGenius connection, and Salesforce permissions allow them. ChatGPT may ask for confirmation based on the app permissions, action context, and risk, and may block some actions.

Does ApexGenius need my Salesforce password?

No. You authorize Salesforce through OAuth on Salesforce’s sign-in screen. ApexGenius uses the credential for the selected Salesforce connection, so profiles, permission sets, object access, and field-level security still apply.

Do I have to reconnect Salesforce when an access token expires?

Normally, no. After you authorize the org once, ApexGenius uses the Salesforce refresh token to renew routine access tokens automatically. You only need to authorize again if Salesforce revokes the refresh token, you disconnect the org, or an administrator policy requires a fresh login.

Is ChatGPT included with ApexGenius?

No. ApexGenius is the Salesforce MCP connection. Your ChatGPT subscription and Salesforce subscription remain separate. ChatGPT availability, developer mode, app permissions, and workspace controls are governed by OpenAI and your workspace administrator.

How many Salesforce orgs can I use from ChatGPT?

Your signed-in Connections screen shows the current Salesforce connection capacity for your account. Each production org or sandbox remains a separate authorized connection, and you select the intended one for the task.
