Before you start

  • A reachable n8n instance and an API key for that instance.

1. Connect n8n to ApexGenius

  1. Open n8n in Connections. Sign in to ApexGenius, open Connections, choose n8n, and select Connect.
  2. Enter the instance credentials. Provide the n8n instance URL and API key in the connection form. Save the connection after validation succeeds.
  3. Check the available tools. Open the Tools tab and use the Read filter to review the available inspection tools before using workflow authoring or execution actions.
  4. Check the saved connection. Use Test connection and read the reported status before asking your AI to list workflows.

2. Connect ApexGenius to Cursor

Use this server address when adding the connection:

  1. In Cursor, open Customize to manage MCP servers and add an apexgenius entry to mcpServers in ~/.cursor/mcp.json with the hosted HTTP URL. Choose Connect, then approve ApexGenius in your browser.
  2. When ApexGenius asks what this AI client may use, choose Read only for the first test, or Custom to limit it to the tools you need.
  3. Start a new conversation and select ApexGenius from the available tools before asking for live data.

When you approve Cursor, pick Full access, Read only, or Custom. Read only allows the Read operations and nothing else. Custom picks apps and tools one by one.

Limits in n8n

What does ApexGenius need to reach my n8n instance?

Your instance URL and an API key. ApexGenius stores the credential for the connection instead of leaving it in an agent config.

Does this work with self-hosted n8n?

Yes. Any reachable instance URL works, self-hosted or cloud, as long as the API key you supply is valid for it.

Can an agent change or delete my workflows?

Workflow and execution operations that remove or overwrite are marked destructive and run when enabled. Read operations return workflow detail and change nothing.

Can I use n8n and Salesforce in the same conversation?

Yes. One connection carries every app you have connected, so an agent can read from one and act in another with both calls on the same audit trail.
