Google Docs MCP Connector for AI Agents

Connect your AI agents to Google Docs over MCP: read documents and comments, and edit or suggest changes in docs your Google account can open.

Connect a Google account once in ApexGenius through Google’s official Docs MCP, then read documents with their comments and edit, format or suggest changes from compatible AI agents. Each AI agent needs its own ApexGenius setup.

Why the gateway is here

It keeps the Google Docs authorization, tools, and activity behind the same managed route you use for your other supported systems.

Connection model

How to connect Google Docs.

The Google Docs connection belongs to your signed-in account. Any Google Docs-native resources stay inside that provider.

Read connection details

Before you start

  • An account with permission to use the Google Docs resources you intend to connect.

1. Connect Google Docs to ApexGenius

  1. Open Google Docs in Connections. Choose Connect, or Add connection when offered. Give the connection a name if prompted. If Gateway setup pending appears, contact ApexGenius support before continuing.
The actual Google Docs connection page in ApexGenius, showing the Connect control.
Open Google Docs in Connections and choose Connect to start setup.Open full-size image (opens in a new tab)
  2. Choose the account and review access. Sign in to the Google account that has access to the intended resources. Review the permissions Google requests, then return to ApexGenius.
  3. Review the connected account and resources. Find Allowed resources on the connection page or its Tools tab. Choose Refresh and enable only the connected Docs account. Resource selection does not add permissions to the Google account.
  4. Check the connection. Use Test connection or Check again and read the reported status. Add an AI agent from the AI agents page, choose Read only for the first test, and try the question below.

2. Choose your AI and finish setup

Each guide includes the AI setup and a first question for Google Docs.

Current governance

Know the account, tools, and result.

ApexGenius keeps the selected context and current tool surface visible, then records supported write activity for review.

Authorized context

The connected Google account decides which documents can be read and changed.

Current tool surface

Edits can also delete text. Ask for suggestions when you want to review each change first.

Reviewable activity

Enabled writes run immediately. Turn a tool off to block calls.

Disconnecting stops future access. It does not undo an edit; use the document’s version history.

Why a gateway

2 operations. Three tool definitions.

Your AI starts with three ApexGenius gateway tools. It discovers the Google Docs operations available to its authorization when a task needs them, then runs the selected operation through the gateway.

One saved provider connection

Connect Google Docs to ApexGenius, then authorize each AI client to use the saved connection with its own tool permissions.

Scoped per agent

Give one client read-only and the write operations never appear in its tool list at all.

Every call on the record

Which agent asked, what ran, and whether it succeeded, kept per connection for review.
