Connect Jira

Authorize an Atlassian account and understand how Jira projects remain provider-native gateway resources.

Jira uses Atlassian OAuth. The connection belongs to the signed-in ApexGenius user, but the current beta tool route can still require legacy ApexGenius project activation. A Jira project is a resource in Jira, not an ApexGenius or Salesforce project.

Before you connect

  • Sign in with the Atlassian user whose Jira permissions should apply.
  • Confirm that the user can access the intended Jira site and projects.
  • Review the permissions on the Atlassian consent screen before approving.

Atlassian OAuth scopes do not override Jira permissions. If the connected user cannot browse or change an issue in Jira, the API token cannot grant that missing permission.

Connect Jira

  1. In ApexGenius, open Connections.
  2. Select Jira.
  3. Choose Connect Jira.
  4. Complete the Atlassian consent flow.
  5. Return to ApexGenius and validate the connection.
Current beta boundary

The Atlassian account connection is available. The fully user-scoped Jira tool catalog and Jira resource controls are being released separately. Connecting Jira does not guarantee that Jira tools are visible in every MCP client yet.

Official Atlassian documentation

Atlassian documentation is authoritative for scopes, site access, Jira permissions, and API behavior.
