What are Salesforce Flex Credits?
Flex Credits are Salesforce’s prepaid usage currency for metered products such as Agentforce and Data 360. Salesforce lists them at $500 per 100,000 credits, or $0.005 each, and every metered operation consumes a set multiplier: a standard Agentforce action uses 20 credits ($0.10 at list), a voice action 30, and Data 360 operations draw per million rows or per megabyte processed. Credits expire at the Order End Date with no rollover.

The mental model is arcade tokens: one wallet, and every metered machine charges a different number of tokens per play. The multiplier table on Salesforce’s rate card is the price list, and the spread is wide, from 3 credits to query a million Data 360 rows to 75,000 credits to unify them.
Budgets get surprised because users do not think in actions and prompts. One agent request can fire several actions, each action can run prompts, and voice adds its own meter, so a single conversation can draw from the wallet several times.
MCP work only touches the credit meter when it invokes a metered service. Salesforce documentation says Flex Credits apply for Agentforce actions and Data 360 queries invoked via MCP, while ordinary record operations use existing API limits, with new Hosted MCP usage types listed as TBA. ApexGenius is outside the credit system: a flat monthly subscription with no per-action fee.

The budgeting catch: users do not think in actions and prompts. One request to an agent can trigger several actions, each action can run prompts, and voice adds its own meter, so a single conversation draws from the wallet multiple times. That is why usage-based AI budgets are hard to predict, and why flat-rate tools exist.

Data 360 multipliers fall across four volume tiers that reset on the first day of each calendar month; sandbox usage follows a separate flat rate. Salesforce notes usage types, tiers, and multipliers can change, and that changes to tiers are treated as multiplier changes.

Salesforce’s Headless 360 documentation says Flex Credits apply when MCP invokes Agentforce actions or Data 360 queries, while ordinary record operations use existing API limits, with new Hosted MCP usage types (Record Operation, Process Invocation) added at multipliers currently listed as TBA. Do Flex Credits apply in sandbox environments?
Yes. Salesforce’s rate card lists sandbox multipliers alongside production: a standard Agentforce action consumes 16 credits in a sandbox ($0.08 at list price), a voice action 24, and Data 360 sandbox usage follows its own flat rates without volume tiers. Testing and development draw the meter just like production does.
Does ApexGenius use Flex Credits?
